This and That

I have been ignoring my blog lately. I've just been so busy. And, next week I am off to the Midwest Felting Symposium (will be taking pictures to post). I will be taking classes with Pamela MacGregor and Pam de Groot. Needless to say I am really looking forward to it. The only fly in my ointment at the moment is a sore throat. I see the doctor about that on Thursday. I refuse to be sick! Anyway, I felt like my blog needed a change, so I changed the title picture. The thing is, I think I need a bigger change (to the blog that is). I am seriously thinking about changing the template. So, if you come back and the blog is completely redesigned don't be surprised. It probably won't happen for a couple weeks yet since I really need to pack all my supplies and some clothes...lol. So, since I don't like to post without pictures, above (for your inspiration) you will find a photo I took of a decorative wall outside the walled gardens at the Chicago Botanic Gardens back in June. It comes off as one of those illusion illustrations (which is kind of cool), and the texture...I really like the texture. Anyhow, Ciao for now. :)

What I have been up too lately

My newest project is my felted Moon Rabbit. In Japan they do not have the man in the moon they have the rabbit who lives on the moon and makes mochi in a pot. See Wikipedias entry here . Above is my moon rabbit before wetting out. More pictures to come later.

This n' That

I have started working on a new wall hanging. This one is smaller and I am using C1 wool along with some leftover Finn wool. This is the first time I have tried combining them so it should be an interesting experiment. I will post pictures when I'm done.

Also, I have added a new medium to my repertoire. I am taking a class on working with metal jewelery. I have been thinking of ways to combine felt with metal. I have also been thinking about making some scarf rings/clips to sell along with my nuno felt scarves.

Lastly I have been taking photos and pondering on the really weird weather the Midwestern States in the U.S. have been experiencing. It is hard for me to believe that there are people who don't think that man is having an effect on the weather.

Busy, Busy, Busy!

One more month in a half and things will finally settle down. Tax time will be over and the spring craft fair Mom and I will be in will be in the past. Then, hopefully, my order of Finn Wool will be in and I can get back to making my wall hanging rugs! But, for right now it is nose to the grindstone. I will post some pictures of my scarves and details of the fair some time in the next week. In the mean time I hope all of you are getting ready for spring because it appears to be right around the corner. Enjoy the picture above from last spring.

A New Year!

Hi all!
Sorry I haven't posted in an age. I took an intense workshop at the Felter's Fling at the end of the summer with Karoliina Arvilommi and Roderick Welch, and when I got back, it was work, work, work. Then I did a ton of craft fairs between the end of September and the end of December (which I should have advertised here but only managed to advertise on facebook). Basically, I was so busy it was a challenge to keep on track, and the blog got neglected. So, one of my New Years resolutions is to get back to blogging at least on a monthly basis (if not bi-monthly). Below are two pictures of wall hangings that resulted from the above workshop. The first one was done during the workshop and the second was done a couple of weeks after I got home.

If you have time you should check out the fabulous feltworks of Karoliina's at her website http://www.4felts.com/index1.htm as well as Rod's feltworks at his website http://www.rod.4felts.com/ .
